The answer to the question is: To connect a Palm device to a Windows 10 computer via Bluetooth, you need to install the Palm Desktop software and use the Bluetooth wizard to pair the two devices.

My Palm Desktop has stopped working. Error: "Failed to open To Do List database". I'm using Windows Vista Home Premiu. Can anyone help?

Answer by Sean Hill

If you have the To Do List on your Palm, then I recommend deleting the file from your desktop and after this process, restart the Palm Desktop again. The cause to the issue might be related to the missing of the actual database or if the file was stored on a system drive, the software needs administrative rights for it to be opened in the application. Close the application and run it as Administrator. However, if it still does not work with Admin rights, remove the database and the software, re-install it and then sync the Palm with the software.

It is not working with Windows 7 and, from what it seems, Palm will not develop a compatible version. What can I do?

P
Answer by Pete Clapp

In order to run it on your Windows 7 computer, you can try the Compatibility Mode. Right click on the program icon and go to Properties > Compatibility tab. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box and select a compatible operating system from the drop-down list. Click Apply and then OK. If this doesn't work, install the application in Windows XP Mode environment. Windows XP Mode is a free utility developed by Microsoft that allows you to install and run applications compatible with Windows XP directly on a Windows 7 computer.

I just purchased a new netbook (Acer Aspire One). Each time I try to sync the PalmOne (Tungsten E2) I get an error message that reads "Bluetooth Serial Port. Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application." Could you let me know what can I do to fix this problem? I really would appreciate it.

J
Answer by Julia Bocchetta

This means that another application from your computer is using the Bluetooth for syncing. Try to close down all your applications and then start the HotSync software and perform the sync. Alterantively, unpair the devices and then pair them back.

Answer by Dan Angel

Palm Tungsten is a personal digital assistant device which uses only Palm OS as operating system. It can be connected with your computer only with Palm Desktop. The last version of Palm Desktop works only with Windows Vista and below operating systems. Palm, the developer of the application, doesn't provide any information for a future version for Windows 7.
